BREAKING: Marlins will trade Giancarlo Stanton to the Yankees

The MLB Hot Stove just set off all types of fire alarms this early Saturday morning Sports Debate Network. With the Shohei Otani sweepstakes for the 2-way Japanese star ending with him signing with the Los Angeles Angels, a huge trade was made that topped everything anyone else can do at this point this off season.

According to Ken Rosenthal and many sources close to the situation, the Miami Marlins have a deal in place to send their $300 million man, Giancarlo Stanton, to the evil empire, the New York Yankees! WOW!

Stanton has expressed during the season that he is tired of losing and wants to play for a contender if the Marlins weren’t going to try to be contenders. Derek Jeter and a line of investors purchased the Marlins franchise and with Jeter as the face of the front office, the Yankees legend has been cleaning house so much to the point where people are uncomfortable with it. The Marlins traded Dee Gordon to the Seattle Mariners just the day before and now it looks like Stanton will be headed to the Yankees, Jeter’s former team. It’s unclear what the Yankees will be shipping over to Miami, but it would be hard for me to think that the Yankees didn’t give up any top prospects, including Clint Frazier and/or Gleyber Torres, possibly with a veteran contract mixed in like Chase Headley or Brett Gardner to make room in the outfield. Whatever the trade is, this platform will update the details accordingly.

Holy smokes Sports Debate Network! With the acquisition of Stanton, the New York Yankees are the scariest team in the entire league offensively. The league leaders in homeruns in their respective leagues are now formed in one team. Aaron Judge and Giancarlo Stanton on the same team is something you put together in MLB The Show. Then you add the powerful Gary Sanchez, a healthy and powerful lefty bat in Greg Bird to go with the coming out party of Didi Gregorious and a solid and young second baseman with pop in Starlin Castro (assuming he wasn’t part of the trade)? What in the world is going on here? Judge and Stanton are virtually the same player. Both combined for 111 homers between the two and now they are teammates? The Bash Brothers don’t have anything on this duo. This is the Super Smash Brothers (I know, corny right?). If the Yankees can maintain an exceptional starting rotation, this team is the most dangerous team we will witness in a long while, probably ever, depending on health.

Calling the move for Stanton a power move (pun intended) is an understatement. When we get into the discussion of best payer in the MLB, we automatically look at the Mike Trouts’, Bryce Harpers’, Jose Altuves’, but Stanton is overlooked and for good reason. The guy has had his battle with injuries, he is known for his bat and not much for the glove, although he is solid in that area as well. The guy crushes the ball with power we haven’t seen since the Mark McGwire, Barry Bonds, Sammy Sosa days, the same goes with Aaron Judge. With Stanton under contract for the next what? 5, 6, 7 years of that contract and Judge beginning his career the way he is, they have the potential of putting on the most exciting displays of offensive baseball that will have the league shaking. The deal is massive and the Yankees for me are the favorites to win the World Series with this move.

UPDATE:

Marlins receive: Starlin Castro and 2 prospects

Yankees receive: Giancarlo Stanton and will pay $265 million of remaining $295 on his current deal
